About me
I am a PhD student in Joerg Stelling group since September 2009.
I have a Master Degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Padua, Italy.
Research interests
My PhD project focuses on cell size control in budding yeast. In all organisms, cell size control is an essential process which couples cell growth and cell division. In budding yeast, cell size control is observed at the START checkpoint of cell cycle. It has been shown that the post-transcriptional regulation of CLN3 gene (encoding a G1 cyclin) plays an important role in cell size control.
The purpose of my PhD project is to understand the role of translation efficiency in cell size control. To try to solve this biological question, I am using combined yeast genetics, biochemistry and in vivo fluorescent microscopy.
In the past, I was working on ribosome biogenesis in budding yeast.
